A Study on Serum Lipids and Lipoproteins in Diabetic Patients

Abstract
|
|
|
Serum lipids and lipoproteins were measured in 30 patients with diabetes mellitus and 130 cases of normal Korean.
The results were as follows:
1. The mean values of serum lipids in diabetic patients were 637.6±135. (mg% for total lipid, 204.6 ±94.4mg% for triglyceride, 164.9 ±34.7mg% for cholesterol and 166.5±64.6mg% for phospholipid and the values of serum lipoproteins were 277.2±101.3 mg% for p-lipoprotein, 177.5±122.4mg% for pre-1Slipoprotein and 187.5-1 76.2mg% for a-lipoprotein.
2. The values of total lipid, triglyceride, cholesterol, A-lipoprotein and pre-ji-lipoprotein. were elevated significantly´in diabetic patients than control subjects.
3. Diabetic patients with severe hyperglycemia sowed higher "values of triglyceride and pre-p-lipoprotein than with less hyperglycemic patients.
4. The incidence of hyperlipoproteinemia in diabetic patients was 4% and the rrcst frequent type of hyperlipcprcteinemia was type 11.
